Breastfeeding Classes

Tidewater Lactation Group, Inc. is proud to offer breastfeeding classes for your convenience.  Please call to reserve your seat in our Saturday class at the office or schedule a private class if you have time constraints or are on bedrest.

Breastfeeding, Getting off to a Healthy Start-

This introductory class is 2 hours in length and designed for women in their middle or last trimester. We cover all of your questions about breastfeeding, and managing the first days and weeks after delivery. We will focus on position and latch with videos and you can bring a doll for hands-on practice.  You'll see examples of gadgets and gizmos and get an honest opinion on what's "nice to have" vs what's necessary. Your support person is welcome and recommended!

This is a one-session class scheduled on the third Saturday of the month from 10am-12pm

Essentials of Employment and Breastfeeding-

A 2 hour class designed for mothers preparing for their return to work after the baby's birth. This class will cover Building Your Milk Supply, Milk Expression Techniques, Milk Storage, Choosing the right breastpump for you, Talking with your Employer, and Traveling. Taking this class will prepare you for effective pumping and making a smooth transition back to work.

This is a one-session class scheduled on the third Saturday of the month from 1pm-3pm

Transistioning the Nursing Baby To the Table-

A 1 hour class designed to help mothers learn how to add Table Foods to your baby's diet.  Learn when is the best time for baby to begin table foods and what foods to begin with. 

This is a one-session class scheduled when requested

Sign, Say & Play Classes - Baby Signs Program

We are so pleased to be able to offer the Baby Signs Program here at the office. 

Sign, Say & Play classes are a fun and entertaining way for parents and babies to learn signs together.  This 6-week series of "play classes" helps parents and babies learn signs through theme-based songs, games, books and activities.  Each enrollment includes the Sign, Say & Play kit with all the materials needed for class and home learning.
